Take-Away

In my Materials class I was tasked to pick three different materials in three different categories, a grown material, a mined material and an oil-based material. My task was to use the three materials in best ways suited for those materials and make a product out of them for a optimistic future. I picked flax for grown, ABS for oil based and neodymium for mined. I decided to design a picnic bag that could be turned into a picnic blanket.

After many prototypes I came up with the idea to design off of a Chinese take-out box, as it could be unfolded into a single platform. I used the Flax in the form of linen sheets, the neodymium as magnets to keep the bag closed and the ABS for panels to keep it rigid.

I had a lot of fun with this projects and I even learned a new skill for it! I learned how to use a sewing machine to sew the linen sheets together and the ABS plates
